Over the last thirty odd years Gallup and others have been measuring employee engagement. The results emphasise that there is a strong connection between employee engagement and business profitability and growth. Creating a high engagement culture has also proven to ensure that companies can attract and retain the right employees. In fact, employees with high levels of commitment perform better and are much less likely to leave the organisation, which indicates that engagement is linked to organisational performance.

According the engagement survey carried out by Gallup Consulting up to 70% of US workers are disengaged in their work place. This indicates a significant untapped intrinsic potential for growth. So what does take to create an environment that furthers employee engagement?

We believe that it requires a change of culture towards a more trusting and appreciative environment where employees are recognised and encouraged to unfold their interests and talents. In this way the culture will drive performance by unleashing the human potential that is frozen in disengagement.

People, organisations and challenges are never the same, which calls for customised solutions. We acknowledge, that this kind of cultural change is not trivial and requires involvement and stamina from the whole organisation. The leadership level needs to define a clear set of values as well as ensuring that they are implemented. For this to become culture all employees must take responsibility for their own contribution and commitment.
